North Regional WWTP Upgrade

Harnett Regional Water began construction on the North Regional WWTP Upgrade in April of 2019. The project consists of the following modifications to the North Regional WWTP: construction of a sludge dewatering system for water and wastewater sludge including a sludge dredge, storage tanks mixers, pumps, centrifuges and a sludge storage building; installation of mixers in the oxidation ditch and the installation of new filters.  This project was needed to improve the operation of the WWTP bio-solids handling process and the treatment of wastewater. This project is estimated to cost approximately $11 million dollars and should be complete in the Summer of 2020.

 

Current Projects Under Design with Construction Planned in FY 2019-2020

  • Brightwater Technology Park Infrastructure Improvements Phase II- construction of approximately 600 feet of roadway and gravity sewer to complete the next phase of the park development. The estimated cost is $900,000 with $500,000 being funded from a Golden Leaf grant. Bids will be taken on June 3 for this construction.
  • Schools Waste Water Extensions Project- construction of ww lift stations at South Harnett Elementary and Anderson Creek Primary schools with force mains to tie into existing SLS on Hayes Rd off of Hwy 210 in Anderson Creek. Sewer will also be provided by a force main along the Hwy 421 corridor from Cape Fear Christian School to Buies Creek. Estimated cost of this project is $2.7 million with $500,000 funded from a NC General Assembly grant.  Bidding should occur in October of this year with completion scheduled for the Fall of 2020.
